I have been almost every adult clothing size in the last 7 years. I've worn from a size 5/6 to an 18 and an XS in Free People to an XXL at Target in dresses and I've worn plus-size clothing because it is usually better looking and fitting than the XXL in a lot of brands. So I know a little something, something in plus-size (I've worn up to a 1X in American Rag).
One tidbit I learned about plus-size sizing: a 0X is basically a XL (or sometimes a large) with a slightly different fit for curvier women.
Usually Plus-size has slightly longer lengths and more give at the waist, back and in the shoulders and arms. It might contain more stretchy material too for a better fit.
My favorite (very CUTE) "plus-size" clothing brands are: American Rag (plus size), Forever 21 (plus size), Hipsandcurves.com {lingerie}, American Eagle (carries up to an XXL and a size 18), Target (misses is the same as AE and they have a plus-size section), modcloth.com (carries a 16+ section), most Macy's plus-size sections are always great too. :)
TJ Maxx can have some really good deals, you just have to search a little bit.
Maurices.com and Downeastbasics.com have some good stuff too!
I hope this helps a bit on your fashionable clothing search! <3 :)
*I am currently wearing a L/XL/0X in dresses and a 14/16 in pants. I'm working on my goal to get healthier, fitter and thinner but I appreciate all body types and sizes and EVERY woman is beautiful no matter her weight or size. It is a stupid number after all and means almost nothing.*
Welcome! :)
Hi, I'm a third year at Los Medanos College. I'm living with my parents (ah! haha) for the next two years then I am back to a CA four year (probably a UC) to get my bachelor's degree in International Relations. :)
Hi, I am now a second year at Santa Rosa JC. Still technically undeclared and living in an apartment with my sister and a lady named Anne! Life continues! I will try to post! :)
